Introduction to Trigger Point Therapy
Do you live in chronic pain? How long has it been? Some people say they’ve been living that way for months, some say a couple years, some say MANY years. And those that say years generally say that they have accepted the fact that this is the way they’ll feel forever. Forever! That’s a long time. And they say this because they have tried everything. Everything from pills, doctors, maybe surgery, physical therapy, massage. So they give up hope.
My Promises
We went on a road trip this weekend, and on the way, I was thinking about my business, and I what I think are important values in my business. As I thought about them, it occurred to me that I want to share these, so that you also know where I stand on these things. I pick my care providers based on their values, and loving knowing them. I want you to be able to do the same to me. Here goes.
Low Back Pain + Massage
Have you ever had low back pain? If you answered yes, you know how debilitating it can be. And, you are not alone. Low back pain is the second most common cause of disability in US adults and a common reason for lost work days. What do you do to help that low back pain? Take some Tylenol or Ibuprofen? Wait it out and suffer through it, hoping it will go away on its own? MAYBE try a couple of stretches?
5 Ways to Beat the January Funk
The holidays are over, the company has gone away, and it's grey. All the time. It's the middle of winter and you know that spring isn't coming anytime soon. You start to feel yourself slipping into a funk. Or the winter blues.
Does this sound like you? It was for me last January. I was also newly pregnant and so tired. I slept a lot and felt so blah. But how can you change it? At some point last winter I decided enough was enough, I was going to enjoy winter and climb out of my funk. I know here in the UP, so many of us get the winter blues, so I wanted to let you know what helped for me.

Word of the Year
Have you heard of having a word of the year to focus on? This year, I chose growth. I actually did a blog on that, so if you want more details on what this is, check out that post here. It’s super interesting, because at the beginning of the year, I thought I would try it and see what happened. I wanted growth in many areas of life. I wanted to grow my business first and foremost, but also my relationship with Matt, I wanted to have another baby (grow him), and to become a better version of myself.
Men Need Massage Too
I want you to think about the men in your life. What characteristics do they have? Hard working? Provider? Stubborn? Men take great pride in providing for their families, and most do a pretty darn good job of it too. You know what else they can be good at? Putting themselves on the back burner, "getting through the pain", or saying, "Ah, I'm good, it'll buff out." Sound familiar? Yeah, same here.
Hot Stones
I can’t believe how many days I’ve seen snow and it’s only October 15th! It made me go dig for my sweaters and cozy blankets. In my space, that also means the hot stones get heated up! Have you ever had hot stones as apart of a massage? If you haven’t, you have to try it! It feels so good on those cold days, especially in the middle of the winter when it can be even colder. I discovered podcasts about a year ago. It was a life changer. Dishes aren’t nearly as dreadful to do when I can be entertained by a podcast at the same time! I also love to put one going on walks, car rides, anywhere really. Learn and do life at the same time?! Win-win. I used to say I would love to be a professional student (nerdy I know), but now I don’t have to, because there are so many podcasts, that you could learn almost anything you wanted to for FREE!! How awesome is that?!
Pre-Natal Care: Part 2
I’m back for part 2 of my pre-natal care blog. I got so wrapped up in supplements, that the first part was a little longer then anticipated. But that’s all right, I’m now 4 days overdue, so I have been given ample time to add to the first part, haha. Also, I take that to mean that I am passionate about this subject. And I am, I love talking about pregnancy and think that you DON’T have to suffer through it! And that’s what these posts are intended to deliver. I can't believe fall sports are back to practice this week! It brings back many memories of days spent in the gym on those hot August days. I love volleyball and can't wait to catch a few games this fall.
Self-Love Menu
Have you ever heard of a Self-Love Menu? I hadn't until a couple of weeks ago, but I love it! Basically, it's a menu of all of -or a few of- the things that you do to love yourself. I can't remember exactly where I saw it, but they recommended starting with a list of 10 things. In my head, I was like "Oh! That'll be easy!" Yeah, not so much. It was actually harder then I anticipated.
