My Promises
We went on a road trip a couple weeks ago, and on the way, I was thinking about my business, and I what I think are important values in my business. As I thought about them, it occurred to me that I want to share these, so that you also know where I stand on these things. I pick my care providers based on their values, and love knowing them. I want you to be able to do the same to me. Here goes.
I promise to listen to you.
This one is a big one for me. Lately, I’ve talked to a few lot of people who have said '“…and she even listened to me! She made me feel important, and not like I was just another appointment on her schedule.” They were talking about another care provider in the community, and I thought to myself, YES. That is so important. I talk a lot about having each session customized to what you need, and to do that, I need to listen to what you’re telling me. Too many times, I’ve walked into a massage and the therapist either didn’t ask me what I want worked on or asked but didn’t do as I requested. This is SO frustrating. My goal is to ask you what is going on, what you want from the session and give you precisely what you asked for. This is why I usually tell you what I will do before the session starts. This way, you can tell me if there is something else you would like, or take an area out. This is your session, let’s make it exactly what you want so that you can get as much benefit as possible.
I will not judge you.
I thought of this one because our old pediatrician always said they were a non-judgmental clinic. And I loved it. I also won’t judge you. I learned a long time ago that we all have our own battles, we all mess up, we all have ‘failures’ that we learn from. There are things in my past I am not proud of, and that is okay. They made me who I am today. So if you are in a tough spot, or have something going on, I won’t judge you. I also won’t judge you if you haven’t shaved your legs, or lost all the weight, or have greasy hair, or have a bad habit you can’t kick. We are all at the perfect place in our journey, and that is NOT my place. I am here to hold space for you so that you can release your pain, de-stress or relax. In no way am I here to judge you. And the truth is, if it’s a physical thing that you are worried I may judge you on, I probably didn’t even notice. Each body is different and unique, and that is how God meant it to be.
I will not share your information, or anything we talk about.
Not that I would, but I am bound by HIPAA (a privacy act) so that I cannot share your information, or anything we talk about during a session. Especially in a small town, I know this can be a worry. Unless you tell me to tell another person something, you are in a safe space to share as you want to. You definitely don’t have to, but you should never worry about whether to share something that comes up for you. [The only time this would change is if I am worried about your safety].
These are my promises to you, and I hope that they serve you, or make you feel better. Your quality of life is my top priority, and I hope I can help you get to where you want to be.
As always,
Best of Health,
Nikki
