Personal Updates + Summer Fun Tips
My, oh my, what a summer it has been. We’ve already hit mid-July, it’s hard to believe! This summer has been particularly fun + busy for me, which has been somewhat stressful and I’m so thankful for all of the experiences. As you may know, I graduated my first class of massage students in early June! That felt amazing to get through the first year. That first group of women was amazing and all of them have passed their licensing tests and are starting their careers as massage therapists! After the school finished up, I knew I had to take a break, so I had scheduled two full weeks off. In that time, we moved into our camper on our land with our kids for the summer. It is so nice to have a huge yard to play in, be able to slowly chip away at the never ending projects and be able to enjoy the quiet in the country. Living in our camper has actually been quite nice, especially since getting electricity last week, LOL. I will admit, I slept a lot in those two weeks. My body knew I needed the break after the year of busy with working here and teaching at the Academy. I am looking forward to another year teaching, so if you know of anyone who would love to attend massage school, send them my way! Or they can check out my website to learn more.
Since moving into our camper, we also have been camping other places a few times! At the end of June, I took a trip to Maine with two of my cousins. It's as gorgeous as everyone says. I loved the little towns and all of the seafood. The following weekend, Matt and I headed to the Pictured Rocks National Lake Shore to go backpacking. We have been wanting to do it for awhile, and it was super fun! We went a total of 7miles over the weekend and learned a lot. I definitely could have gone longer, but it was a perfect starter trip. Now we know what to leave behind next time and what we’d like to add to the experience. I’ll need some hiking boots, the first thing I did was land on my butt in a mud pit because the shoes I had on had no grip, haha!
After that, we had two more camping trips with our kids and the camper. Being home this week felt really good, is there such thing as too much vacation?? For myself, I need that downtime between all of the fun, and it felt really good to regroup this week and also get back into work here at Encompass.
One thing I’ve changed this summer, is that I’ve learned about electrolytes and the benefits. In summers past, I would get so tired in the daytime and feel so drained after just a couple hours at the beach. This year I learned that when we sweat, we are losing a lot of salt and minerals, so we need to replace them! I found a clean option, called Redmond Re-Lyte that I’ve been absolutely loving. It helps me stay energized during the day and makes my water yummy and exciting. Here is a quote from their website, “Electrolytes matter. They keep you healthy, hydrated, and energized so you can keep up with your kids, crush your CrossFit workouts, or conquer your crazy work schedule. But forget all those artificially-flavored, sugary sports drinks. Our Re-Lyte line contains junk-free electrolyte products in a wide variety of formulas to fit your clean lifestyle. Whether you need everyday immune support, a motivating pre-workout pump, or a boost to get you through that afternoon energy slump, there's a Re-Lyte product that'll make your journey a little more amazing”
If you want to grab some today, I highly encourage it! Check out https://redmond.life/ to grab yours. This is not sponsored in anyway, I just love the product!
On all of the vacation, I read a lot of books. If you know me, you know that once I get stuck in a good book, it’s hard to pull me out. And I got on a streak of good ones. A few included Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover, On Mystic Lake & Distant Shores by Kristin Hannah and right now I’m re-listening to The Untethered Soul by Peter Berkrot because it was so good the first time. This is a book I feel like I should re-listen to every couple of years!
For the rest of the summer, we are looking forward to more beach days, relaxing and more camping! Here at Encompass, we are hosting an Open House on July 29th from 10am-1pm! We would love to see you! We are excited for everyone to see what we’ve been up to, meet our new therapists, see how much our Wellness Shop has developed and see where the school is, if you want to learn more about the academy. We will have discounts going on, mini services, & refreshments. We would love to see you and hear about how your summer is going as well!
I hope you enjoyed this quick update, I’d love to know what you’ve been up to in the comments :)
